Today in Georgia only a few people are engaged in the field of sericulture, one of them is Kizikian Lamara Bezashvili, who has a silk farm in the village of Magharo. Lamara began the restoration of the forgotten field at the beginning of the 21st century with a symbolic 21 silkworms, and today she takes care of millions of silkworms. In the “Silkworm Workshop” they create silk products in the form of ready-made textiles, namely: pillows, headscarves, T-shirts, socks and others. The silk grown on the farm and, in general, various components of the silkworm are antiallergic, antiradiation, antiseptic and are actively used in folk medicine. Along with sericulture, the farm also has the purpose of a medical tourism object, Lamara provides guests with information about more than 300 plants, about their medicinal properties and contraindications. It should be especially noted that on site you will find wine aged with silk according to the ancient Georgian monastic method.
